Wendy Cooley
1st Grade Teacher
Profile:
My name is Wendy Cooley. I am honored and extremely excited
to be a member of the American Heritage Academy team. I grew
up in Washington State but have lived in Camp Verde with my
husband Jared for the past 9 years. We have 4 wonderful Children;Amber,
Savanah, Trace and Samuel. Our family enjoys spending time
together fishing, camping and hunting. We love the outdoors.
It has been my dream to become a teacher ever since I was
a little girl. Lately, the involvement in my children's lives
has drawn me even closer to teaching. When I was in high school
I was a teachers aid for Mrs. Scheer, the second grade teacher.
She always encouraged me to become a teacher. Twenty years
later I Have arrived at that dream by way of Northern Arizona
University. I am so thrilled to be teaching young children.
I love that enthusiasm and the smiles and hugs often given
by them for no reason at all. I am looking forward to meeting
you and your first grader and I anticipate a fun filled year.

Heather Pehl
2nd Grade Teacher
Profile:
My name is Heather Pehl and I am very excited to be teaching
2nd grade at American Heritage Academy. This will be my 11th
year educating and loving the children of Camp Verde. As far
back as I can remember, I wanted to be a teacher. I would
spend endless hours in my room with my chalkboard and dolls
teaching them everything I'd learned from my teacher.
As the years went by, I knew without a doubt that being in
the classroom was my calling. In the spring of 1996 I graduated
from Northern AZ. University. My dream came true. Every day
that I teach, I love to watch the wonder and curiosity in
a child's eye. I smile as bright and big as they do when they
have the "I got it" moment. To hear them laugh and work together
is music to my ears. A great big bear hug or a tiny hand in
mine gives me butterflies and satisfaction. But when it is
a parent looks deep into your eyes and says "thank you", it
is at that moment for me, I know that I was born to be a teacher.
I have been blessed with an extraordinary family. My husband
Lee and I have been married for 12 years and are the proud
parents of the most incredible 6 year old little girl, Emilee.
Needless to say, I love being a mom! When I am not in the
classroom I enjoy participating in my church functions, scrapbooking,
stamping, cooking, boating and watching football. Any Broncos
fans out there?
The opportunity that has been set before me is an exceptional
one. One that I know will be inspiring, infectious and rewarding
for all of us! Welcome to American Heritage Academy.
